چکیده

In the last few years, several papers dealing with the integration between different surveying techniques (such as photogrammetry, LiDAR, NIR image processing, 2D digital maps, etc.) have been already presented. The main idea of these works is the possibility to overcome the individual weakness of each technique through their combined use, exploiting their complementary nature. In this work, the new integration between data provided by Time-of-Flight (ToF) cameras and a multi-image matching technique is presented. In particular, this approach is considered for the cultural heritage data acquisition and processing. The main advantage is given by the quickness in the data acquisition (only few minutes are requested) and the reduced cost of the instruments, if compared to terrestrial laser scanners. According to the proposed approach, ToF camera and photogrammetric techniques continuously share information in order to extract the geometric breaklines necessary for the cultural heritage survey. One of the first experiences applying this new method on an architectural artefact is presented, in order to show its potentiality for metric survey and architectural drawing purposes. * Corresponding author.

3D Classification of Urban Features Based on Integration of Structural and Spectral Information from UAV Imagery

Three-dimensional classification of urban features is one of the important tools for urban management and the basis of many analyzes in photogrammetry and remote sensing. Therefore, it is applied in many applications such as planning, urban management and disaster management. In this study, dense point clouds extracted from dense image matching is applied for classification in urban areas. Appl...

Integration of 3D and multispectral data for cultural heritage applications: Survey and perspectives

Cultural heritage is increasingly put through imaging systems such as multispectral cameras and 3D scanners. Though these acquisition systems are often used independently, they collect complementary information (spectral vs. spatial) used for the study, archiving and visualization of cultural heritage. Recording 3D and multispectral data in a single coordinate system enhances the potential insi...

Multi-Sensors and Multiray Reconstruction for Digital Preservation

The use of multi-sensor systems is demonstrated in this paper. Firstly, the potential of modern smart phones is used to reconstruct 3D shapes for Cultural Heritage applications. Secondly, we let collect the Microsoft Kinect sensor system dense point clouds for 3D indoor modelling. Thirdly, a multi-camera system is mounted onto a rectangular aluminium frame to collect thousands of images of two ...

Photogrammetric and Lidar Integration for the Cultural Heritage Metric Surveys

In the last few years, LiDAR and image-matching techniques have been employed in many application fields because of their quickness in point cloud generation. Nevertheless, these techniques do not assure complete and reliable results, especially in complex applications such as cultural heritage surveys; furthermore, the use of the data provided by these techniques is limited to experienced user...

Digital Photogrammetry and Tls Data Fusion Applied to Cultural Heritage 3d Modeling

A great number of papers have been so far published about the comparison and the integration between terrestrial laser scanning and digital photogrammetry, as surveying and 3D modeling techniques. Though most of the works report about their application to Cultural Heritage, achieved results have shown that these two technologies can supplement each other in creating high-quality 3D recordings a...
